Itinerary- Mekong Cycling Day trip ( 30 km Cycling )
Meeting and pick up at the hotel then depart from Saigon at 7:30 am with a private van to Ben Tre (Mekong delta) 1 hours and a half. Upon arrival in the Mekong Delta, we stop and enjoy tea or coffee at a cafeteria in a small village while we setup the bikes.
We start Mekong Cycling off through the serene countryside on vegetable farms, past countless rice paddies, paved, quiet rural roads, and the orchards that are full of fruit growing in the locality. The Mekong is the richest agricultural area in Vietnam and it is also home to local weavers and artisans. We will stop at a small-size shop to see traditional woven mats, as well as visiting a cocoa plantation near that area.
In this area, chocolate products are the most famous in the world. We continue to cycling through 2 local wet markets that are very traditional with fresh veggies and fruits from the area, as well as the recent catch of fish from the streams and rivers in the locality.
The rice is still the most well-known and best crop and the view across the rice fields is very wonderful. There is some riding on paved paths and smaller land roads. However, the route is safe for even the bikers who do not have much experience. As tourists would head further the south, the rural roads would be giving way to concrete canal paths and the vegetation would grow denser as the streams begin looking more like the large tributaries in the Mekong Delta area. You would have chance to come to explore a busy, as well as the largest wholesale fresh product market in the area; see the fresh water shrimp cultivation’s indoor.
A delicious lunch with local food would be prepared in a beautiful garden of a private home for us to enjoy. After having lunch and a short rest, we would have chance to board a small canal boat to have a relaxing trip with quiet canals. It would be a great chance for people to savor the diversity and flavors throughout the Vietnam cycling day trip. After that we take the private van transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop at the hotel that the group staying. End of Mekong bike tour.
